About the Talk
When the subject’s encounter with something impossible to bear is added to the social malaise, there’s often the emergency of a demand, pushing the subject to find a partner who could be the convenient interlocutor. Among all possible responses to this demand, there’s one that radically differs from the others: a psychoanalysis.
This lecture will discuss the psychoanalytic promise, its actual results, and whether its offer meets the subjective demands of our time. And, by clarifying the aims of psychoanalysis according to Jacques Lacan’s approach, the ongoing relevance of psychoanalysis will be highlighted.
